Motor Truck Cargo Insurance Expert
Motor truck cargo is considered to be a very important class of business within the marine and transportation market.
For many nations, road carriage remains the dominant means for conveying cargo both within and across national borders.
The business is multi faceted in that there are many players, all requiring insurance protection. For example, the shipper or receiver of cargo requires first party all risks insurance on their cargo. The trucker or sub contractor of the trucker will require cargo liability insurance. Cargo legal liability limits will depend on such factors as the value of the cargo it carries and provincial or state insurance requirements. Transport intermediaries such as freight or load brokers usually require contingent cargo liability insurance to protect their operations as an agent and or for defense costs.
Alan has considerable experience of both underwriting and claims adjusting in this class of business. He has knowledge of practices and regulatory requirements in all the major provinces of Canada, the United States and of the domestic and CMR regimes within the European community.
He recently facilitated a workshop on this class of business at the IBAO.
