Introduction
This introductory course for insurance brokers offers an understanding of the basic principles of marine cargo insurance.
  1. The course addresses international trade and logistical challenges, the laws governing the marine policy, Institute Clauses, general marine policy conditions, risk assessment, methods of transportation, Particular Average and General Average claims, claims handling procedures, documentation and subrogation.
  2. Students should be aware that the course is not intended to be an authoritative expose of the law and practice of marine insurance and, therefore, it cannot be relied upon as such. This area of insurance is also constantly under review and change at the international, national and provincial levels. Students are therefore encouraged to conduct their own further research and evaluation on the topics covered in this course. There are many outstanding sources of detailed information and where, possible, we have provided you with links to these.

  3. Please complete the Evaluation at the end of the course. We appreciate your feedback in order that improvements can be made. Once you have submitted your Evaluation, we will e-mail your Certificate of Completion within 12 to 24 hours.
