Marine Cargo or Transit Insurance Expert
Cargo or transit insurance follows international trade. When we speak of this class of insurance, we refer to international shipments by air, sea, road or rail and or a combination of these forms of transit.
The insurance cover offered by the main marine markets is very similar. Many markets have tended to adopt either the London market Institute Cargo Clauses ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ or the clauses of the American Institute of Marine Underwriters.
There are also specialty clauses dealing with certain types of cargo such as the Institute Frozen Food Clauses for reefer cargo or the Timber Trade Federation Clauses.
This class of business includes rejection cover, compliance and credit risks and war strikes riots and civil commotions risks.
A proper understanding of these clauses can only be achieved by many years of transit underwriting and claims adjusting practice.
Alan brings 29 years of experience in this class of business. He has first hand experience and knowledge of the UK, European, American and Canadian cargo markets. His existing client base includes insurance companies, underwriting agents, international corporations and attorneys. He has served as a member of national and international cargo committees and has offered expert witness testimony in this class of business.
